Written with Love
Dad's Poems ✍️
“For a while Dad thought he was Walt Whitman, so he wrote the poems below.” These are his words — for Elyse and her sister Eliza — from the heart.
“When I am here no more”
I write to you my child To the one who I have not had So when I am here no more You can hear me then These are my thoughts Right or wrong here they lay But my child listen carefully For I have lived before you became I have seen what you can be I have seen what you'll become But the road that I have traveled Is now for you to own
“Heartbeat of my Soul”
You are the heartbeats of my soul You make me feel life through the love of His creation You are perfect in His sight, through the blood of Jesus Christ You are my daughters whom He has given me To show you the narrow path but filled with jubilee I will always point you in His direction, no matter how tough the path may be Looking for His will in your lives, and seeking His guidance I love you Elyse and Eliza with all my heart and soul But the one thing is certain; you are the heart beats of my soul Your Dad!
“God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:11
